Despite positive initiatives of the government to minimise the damage caused by the corona crisis in several sectors, musicians too often slip through the net. Most of the relief measures do not apply to artists, who usually work on project or day-to-day basis, or the grants barely cover the losses. Previously, the non-profit organization ArtistsUnited Vzw, who advocates for and offers advice to artists, set up a petition to support artists who work based on short-term contracts.
Cello for Charity wants to offer their support and aid mostly classical musicians that greatly suffer from this crisis. They don’t need charity, but support in their profession as independent musicians. Charity, or solidarity, we do ask from those who have not been greatly affected by this crisis.
To divide the proceeds, this project partners with ArtistsUnited vzw, the only organisation in this industry who focuses on classical musicians and has a corresponding advisory committee.
